CULTURAL VALUE OF THE CHAM FAMILY IN DA NANG (CASE STUDY CHE VAN FAMILY, BINH HIEN WARD, HAI CHAU DISTRICT)

Abstract

Besides the appearance of a young, dynamic city on the central coast of Vietnam; Da Nang city also known as the land of "the beginning of the sea, the end of the river" witnessed many important events in the nation's history. With a special geographical position and the deposition of cultural sediments, Da Nang has made its mark in the journey of building and defending the country. Before becoming a part of Dai Viet territory, present-day Da Nang once belonged to the Champa kingdom.

Over time, the imprints of Cham culture on this land have merged, crossed, and acclimatized with Vietnamese culture to become a feature in the culture of Quang in general and Da Nang in particular. One of those features is the existence of Vietnamese Cham families in Da Nang. By surveying the case of the Che Van family in Binh Hien ward, Hai Chau district, Da Nang city, the article will clarify the Cham families' unique cultural values in this city.
