LIVELIHOODS OF THE CO-TU PEOPLE IN SONG BUNG HYDRO POWER PLANT 4 (CASE STUDY IN PA ROM AND PADHY HAMLETS IN ZUOIH COMMUNE, THANH MY DISTRICT, QUANG NAM PROVINCE)

Abstract

In the past years, the hydropower projects have built and made significant contributions to the economic growth of the country, but along with hydropower, the migration and resettlement also cause certain impacts on environment, culture and livelihoods. Currently, the question for resettlement projects is how to improve people's lives, help them have a standard of living at least equal to or better than their old place, quickly integrate and adapting to life in a new place while still preserving the traditional cultural values of their nation. To answer this question, the programs and projects of the State and international organizations have supported the Co-tu people to restore their livelihoods with their own efforts, changing their livelihoods to adapt to the new environment. This article explores the current status of the Co-tu people's livelihood activities in Pa Rom and PaDhy hamlets of Zuoih commune, Thanh My district, Quang Nam province after moving to the resettlement area.
